Build your own solar panel
The sun holds the key to our entire future energy requirement. It’s the only renewable source of energy which is endless. We cam tap this energy using various techniques. Solar Panel is one such thing, which can help us do so. To build your own solar panel is not a hard thing today if one knows all the proper steps. It is mainly a box kind of thing which holds the solar cells. Solar panel can also be called as photovoltaic module. These can be used as larger photovoltaic system which can be used both for residential as well as commercial application. Through photovoltaic effect solar panel makes use of the light energy that is from the sun and generates electricity.
One can make use of the common items which are found in the local hard ware store and construct a solar panel in order to demonstrate the photo electric effect. By converting traditional electrical supply to solar power we can also save energy. Here are some of the steps which will guide you to build your own solar panel.
Now for a start, we will need some square or rectangular copper flashing of the size of an electric burner after thoroughly cleaning the same to remove any impurity from its surface. Now we need to coat its surface with a thick layer of cupric oxide. For this you can use an electric burner or something and heat it for as long as 30 minutes to get such a layer. After this we need to take out this layer completely by scrubbing. Our intention is retain the red cupreous oxide layer. Be gentle so as to retain this layer. Just remove the black oxide layer. Get another copper plate of similar size. Connect both the panels using alligator clips to the opposite mouth of an glass or plastic bottle. Connect the clean copper plate to the +ve of a meter and the –ve terminal to the cuprous oxide plate. After this you have got to prepare a salt solution by dissolving it in hot water tap. The solution should be enough to cover the plate bottom leaving the clips dry and high. Finally at last place the panel under the sun so that the gauge jumps and reflects the current which the project has created.
Finally in this way you can build your own solar panel rather than using any other means and save the environment.
